A rare visit to Banská Bystrica: The FAN zone is full of memories of EYOF 2019 in Baku

Under the Slovak National Uprising Monument in Banská Bystrica, representatives of Slovak schools met with representatives of the National Olympic Committee of the Azerbaijani Republic and Azerbaijani students who arrived as one delegation for a meeting within the Olympic Cultural and Educational Program (OCEP).
“Today we officially met under the Monument, where the National Olympic Committee of the Azerbaijani Republic expressed its gratitude to the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOŠV) and the organizers of EYOF 2022 for continuing this idea, and together we believe that it will continue at other European Youth Olympic Festivals,” said Ivana Motolíková, director of the Olympism department of the SOŠV and a specialist in education.
OCEP is a program of Olympic culture and education. It was implemented for the first time by the National Olympic Committee of the Azerbaijani Republic during the EYOF 2019 in Baku. “The idea caught our attention at SOŠV and we decided to continue the project and transfer it to Banská Bystrica as well. Although I must point out that SOŠV has a much longer tradition of Olympic education than they had in Azerbaijan. They started with it in 2019, while we have more than 25 years of tradition,” added Motolíková.
A total of 46 primary and secondary schools from Slovakia and 28 schools from abroad participated in OCEP. Finally, 37 Slovak schools and schoolchildren from Poland, Azerbaijan, and Hungary arrived in Banská Bystrica.
