EYOF PLANTED TREES ON EARTH DAY

Today, we celebrate the big ecological day – the Earth Day. The European Youth Olympic Festival also includes an environmental part to keep the event with the least possible impact on the environment. One of the parts of the “Green EYOF” is the planting of a total of 500 trees and the creation of the Olympic Forest in Malochov near Banská Bystrica.
Sustainability and minimal impact of the carbon footprint is one of the pillars of the EYOF. “We are glad that thanks to the Military Forests of the Slovak Republic and the BB Municipal Forests we can leave a truly positive message of the event to the nature. With the help of the organising committee, we planted a total of 500 trees and thus created the Olympic Forest,” said Zuzana Moravčíková, the director of the EYOF Green and Sustainability Department, as of Earth Day.
In addition to the tree planting, the “Ten Commandments of the Green EYOFs” are being prepared, which we will present to the public in mid-May. “It is a link between ecology and sport. In part, this is also an educational project that wants to point out that by partially changing our habits, we can minimize the pollution of the planet,” uncovered the upcoming green project Moravčíková.
