IN 6 DAYS, BANSKÁ BYSTRICA WILL BECOME THE SPORTS HEART OF EUROPE

We have the last days left until the start of the European Youth Olympic Festival EYOF Banská Bystrica 2022, which the organising team is making full use of. Today, a tactical exercise took place in the area of Banská Bystrica beach swimming pool with the participation of security and rescue forces in order to test how communication works and check the connection system in the control room, in a permanent centre for management of the security forces, which will be an essential part throughout the whole EYOF respectively. In case of unforeseen crisis situations, all forces are ready to intervene.
As of today, organising committee is also in charge of all sports grounds where competitions in individual disciplines will take place. In cooperation with sports associations, final adjustments are being made to them. Within the city, navigation and the necessary signage are currently being installed not only for athletes, but also for spectators. At the same time, construction of the FAN zone in the Park under the SNP Memorial begins, which will offer a rich sports, music and educational program during the EYOF.
In addition to the sports component, one of the pillars of EYOF is also sustainability and green solutions, which cannot be missing at such large events. Many examples include e.g. clothes made of recycled materials, a podium made of recycled plastic, efficient waste management in the sense of a circular economy or reusable bottles for all event participants.

6.000 accredited persons, of which approximately 2.300 will be athletes and approximately 1.300 members of implementation teams, national and international technical delegates

10 sports – athletics, badminton, basketball, road cycling, judo, handball, swimming, sports gymnastics, tennis and volleyball
5 places – in addition to Banská Bystrica, Zvolen, Detva, Slovenská Ľupča and Badín will also be the scene for competitions
