The countdown to the EYOF will also feature a mascot presentation and three interesting concerts

On Saturday 24 July, the organisers of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2022 Banská Bystrica will start counting down one year until the start of the event. On this occasion, they will introduce the mascot of the event and show the public a small taste of what awaits EYOF visitors in the fan zones next year.

The afternoon of Saturday 24 July will be marked by the EYOF in the centre of Banská Bystrica. A year before the event, the Slovak National Uprising Square will be transformed from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. into a festival stage where good mood and fun will reign supreme.

There will be three separate concerts featuring the popular band Hex, the very popular among children Fíha Tralala and the Slovak Ministry of the Interior Brass Band, which has prepared a mixture of popular and film songs in an unconventional performance.

At the celebration of the beginning of the countdown to EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica, representatives of the youngest, young, middle and older generations will find their programme. Visitors to the event will get to know the European Youth Olympic Festival better, but they will also be able to play sports.

“We are trying to be responsible and, as a precautionary measure against pandemics, we are preparing a concert programme in three blocks. One thousand tickets will be available for each of them, which can be obtained free of charge in a lottery by filling in the forms on the EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica Facebook page. We have thought about all age categories of the city’s inhabitants. We believe that the programme will delight Banská Bystrians and we will successfully kick off the final year of preparations for the event,” says Lukáš Donoval, Marketing Director of EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica.

There will be no shortage of surprises throughout the afternoon. One of them will be the official presentation of the EYOF mascot, which emerged from last year’s big art competition. The jury chose from hundreds of designs from people from all over Slovakia. The mascot will also start the countdown of one year to the start of the event, the countdown timer will then be placed in the Europa SC shopping centre.

The culmination of the whole afternoon will be a big fireworks display. Public and political figures and many personalities from the world of sport are also invited to the events. The whole programme will be moderated by Sajfa.

“The EYOF 2022 will also include fan zones, where there will be a rich accompanying programme for residents and visitors of the city and the whole region every day from 24 to 30 July 2022. A year before the event, we want to present Banská Bystrica residents with a small taste of what awaits them next summer,” added Lukáš Donoval.

As part of the event one year into the EYOF, there will also be a stand where the organisers will present their volunteer programme. Those interested can register directly at the event, or even now via the website www.eyof2022.com. The organisers are offering people of all ages the chance to experience an interesting event and gain new experiences.
