OVEP webinars are very successful

Friday, 30 April 2021

The Organizing Committee of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2022 Banská Bystrica, in cooperation with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee, prepared in 2021 a rich variety of activities focused on Olympic education. As part of the Olympic Values Education Program (OVEP), they offer primary and secondary school students and teachers the opportunity to take part in themed webinars and to spread the ideas of Olympism.

Webinars gain a very positive response among participants. They focus on Olympic values, fair play, anti-doping, nutrition, and environmental education.

During the first quarter 2021, almost 1,600 participants from primary and secondary school students, as well as teachers, trainers, and pedagogical staff of leisure centers, registered for the webinars.

“Through our projects and the OVEP program, we managed to address primary and secondary schools from all over Slovakia. The transition to the online education platforms has enabled us to increase the number of recipients of the entire program,” said Ivana Motolíková, director of the EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica School Program and director of the Olympic Department of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee.

Webinars aimed at environmental education, which EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica and SOŠV organize in cooperation with the Planet Lover initiative, are of particularly great interest. They focus on various activities based on the sustainability principles.

The representative of the Planet Lover initiative Alexandra Madrová has presented the project of EKOworkshops, which will be part of the sustainability agenda of EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica.

“Within EKOworkshops we will try to come up with ideas aimed at improvement of the quality of life in our communities and surroundings. We want to look especially for green and sustainable solutions. It is a long-term project designed for students from the age of 15,” said Alexandra Madrová.
