The success of the OVEP webinars will be followed by ECOworkshops in the next school year

Monday, 12 July 2021

Hundreds of participants in the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) webinars held in the first half of 2021 learned new knowledge about Olympic values education, environmental education, clean and doping-free sport and fair play. The webinars have gained considerable popularity.

The Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee prepared the webinars in cooperation with the Organising Committee of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2022 Banská Bystrica and with its partner organisations – the Junior CVČ in Banská Bystrica, the Slovak Anti-Doping Agency, the environmental civic association Planet Lover and the Fair Play Club of the SOSV.

Hundreds of webinar participants

From January to June, a total of 23 webinars were held, attended by 2206 participants from the ranks of teachers, coaches, students, pupils and enthusiasts of Olympism.

“We are delighted to see the great interest of practitioners, enthusiasts and especially young people in the OVEP project. We were positively surprised by the high attendance at the individual webinars. Our original intention was to organise face-to-face meetings. The transition to the online environment turned out to be a very good decision,” said Ivana Motolíková, Director of the EYOF 2022 Department of School Project.

The offer of webinars covered a range of thematic areas that are part of Olympic and values education. In addition to individual Olympic values such as excellence, respect and fair play, the SOSV and its partners offered participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the areas of anti-doping, nutrition and environmental education.

The success of environmental education will be followed up by ECOworkshops

The webinars in the field of environmental education, which EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica and SOŠV organize in cooperation with the Planet Lover civic association, were very popular. They focused on various sustainability activities.

SOSV in cooperation with Planet Lover is preparing a project of EKOworkshops for the school year 2021/22. Several solutions and mini-projects will be presented and used directly at the biggest multi-sport event in the history of Slovakia, EYOF 2022 Banská Bystrica. EKOworkshops will also be one of the main projects of the school programme before EYOF 2022.

Students aged 15 and above can already apply for the project. We welcome those with a desire to broaden their knowledge of environmental protection, with an interest in participating in projects that will make a real difference to the quality of our lives and our surroundings.

“Within the framework of ECOworkshops we will try to improve the quality of life in our communities and nearby, we want to look for green and especially sustainable solutions,” said Alexandra Madrová from Planet Lover.
