Finance is the basis for organising all major sports events. The benefits of the event for the inhabitants are important for the host country and especially for the city. One of the most important benefits is the economic ones.

Increasing the number of visitors to the region from all over Europe during the event and in the future 

A total of 7,000 people, including 3,600 athletes and team members will arrive in Banská Bystrica in July. All participants will have the opportunity to get to know the beauties of the Banská Bystrica region in their free time. The younger age groups will definitely get involved in sharing photos from the BB region on their social networks. This will increase the awareness of the city and region not only from the word of mouth directly from the participants or from their social networks. There is also a good chance that they will return to the region on their own in the future.

Income from tourism 

Not only thanks to the athletes and their teams during the event but also after the event, a high inflow of tourists is expected. Banská Bystrica will become the most watched place of the European youth sports in July. Millions of spectators will watch the streaming of the event, where they will see the beauties of the city and the region. All these aspects will lead to an increase in tourism.

Restart of the HORECA segment and support for local entrepreneurs 

The HORECA segment was most affected during the covid pandemic. During the event, it is expected that many of participants will visit local cafes, shops and use various services, thus spending part of their money in Banská Bystrica. Due to the large number of participants, these do not have to be small amounts to support local entrepreneurs.

Creating new jobs 

The organisation of the major sports events also entails a huge demand on human resources. Dozens of jobs directly and indirectly related to the EYOF will be created before and during the event. This creates several job opportunities for the inhabitants of Banská Bystrica. However, several positions may not expire after the event. By organising a major sports event at the European level, the employees and volunteers will gain valuable work experience and skills, thanks to which they can apply in the organisation of major sports events in Slovakia and also abroad.

Finance from local fees and taxes 

The local tax and fees are paid for each accommodated visitor. The funds obtained in this way flow into the city budget and, given the expected number of visitors to the city, it will not be a small financial amount.
