Vlhová defended the title of the Slovak Athlete of the Year

Alpine skier Petra Vlhová defended the crown for the queen of Slovak sport. The winner of the Athlete of the Year 2020 poll has also started at the European Youth Olympic Festival in the past.
Vlhová triumphed in the Athlete of the Year poll ahead of cyclist Peter Sagan and ice-hockey player Erik Černák. The winner of the Teams‘ category were footballers from the National A-team of Slovakia. “I’m really looking forward. It’s a bonus for me for the results and the hard work I’m going through. This season is not over yet, I believe that it will continue successfully,” said Petra Vlhová.
Petra Vlhová’s first multi-sporting event was the winter EYOF 2011 in Liberec, Czech Republic. In the north of the Czech Republic, she attacked a medal nine years ago, after the first round of slalom she was fourth, but the second round did not work out and she finished ninth. The winner was Charlotte Säfvenberg from Sweden. A year later, in Innsbruck, Austria, Vlhová won the Youth Winter Olympics and definitely started her successful career.
