Bronze EYOF for the Slovak team and valuable experience for the organising committee

The winter edition of the EYOF took place in Vuokatti, Finland, from 20 to 25 March, and the Slovak Olympic team won two medals thanks to the biathlete Jakub Borguľa and a speed skater Tamara Tokárová. The organising committee of the EYOF in Banská Bystrica was also a part of the expedition, which absorbed the atmosphere of the event, gained important experience and knowledge in the direction of organising the summer version.

A total of 39 Slovak athletes joined the busy five-day program. Throughout, the organising committee of the summer edition of the EYOF, headed by its CEO Petr Hamaj, gathered experience from the Finnish colleagues. “I would like to thank the EOC and the colleagues from Vuokatti, thanks to whom we were able to soak up the atmosphere of the event and consult on specific issues related to the preparations of the event and the event itself. Based on our experience, we can draw on many of them in preparation for our EOYF, which will make our work much easier.”

The EYOF also included the OVEP ambassador program, where Slovakia had a representative Kamil Pavlinský. He and his colleagues tried to explain to athletes that the EYOF was not just about sports, but also about getting to know other cultures and each other. A number of activities, workshops and podcasts were preparedg for the athletes. The Ambassador program will also be ready for the athletes during the EYOF in Banská Bystrica, and anyone can really take part in it.
