Less than 6 months remain until the start of the European Youth Olympic Festival in Banská Bystrica and volunteers are an important part that will help in a major way to organise this large multi-sport event. The organisers launched a series of lectures at Slovak schools to bring more information for the recruitment of next people. Do you want to participate too? Just log in and we'll be with you soon! 

"We started organising lectures at schools in the autumn of 2021 to support the online campaign. A person watches a video on social networks, he is interested in it but he does not decide to register. Therefore, we decided to visit schools where we talk to students in person about the volunteer program. As volunteers at EYOF 2022 have a choice of 16 different areas of activity, we can say that everyone can find something he likes. They can gain experience in the field of catering, accommodation, PR communication and media, security or organisation of major sport events. Right in the schools, we introduce the benefits of volunteering at such a multi-sporting event as the EYOF,” says Júlia Jančíková, the manager of volunteers. 

How is the volunteer lecture?

Representatives of the EYOF organisers will explain all the benefits of the position in the PowerPoint presentation, which they will also confirm with a motivational video. "We want to reach young people in an interactive and fun way. Covid's time will not allow us to organise one big event for 300 students, so the schools send us groups of 20-30 people. It's great because we have a direct contact with everyone and there is more room for their questions," adds Júlia Jančíková. 

What is the goal?

Creating awareness of volunteering in Slovakia and addressing other students to register for the EYOF. This work will allow them to gain new experiences in their professional lives, make new friends for life and experience the atmosphere at such a large sporting event.

How many volunteers we want? 

The goal is to reach 1,500 volunteers who will take care of more than 3,600 athletes and other participants throughout the European Youth Olympic Festival. "Currently, we are around the number of 1140 registered and we believe that we will soon reach the set goal and that lectures at schools will also help us to do so," adds Júlia Jančíková at the end. 

The EYOF Banská Bystrica 2022 volunteer project is part of the European Sport Volunteers project, financed by the European Union within the Erasmus+ program.
